Amazing Mexican food/amazing service. The reviews are comical, saying they have no flavor in their food is laughable. We enjoyed everything from start to finish.
My wife and I ate here on an early Saturday afternoon. I had the Enchilada Dinner and she had a Chile Relleno with retried beans and guacamole salad. The salsa that arrived with the chips was some of the best we've ever had. The entrees arrived at our table wicked-fast and hot, and was very good. We're new to town and just decided this is our new go-to place.
The food is always fresh. The waiter always very polite and quick. We enjoy going here. Never disappointed... Very filling...
Decent Mexican food at a great price is the best way to characterize El Río. Today I had lunch and ordered the most expensive dish on the Lunch Special menu, and at $7 it just can't be beat: it included a taco, enchilada, burrito, and a cheese-filled something or other. It was really filling and fulfilling alike. In terms of the food, this is not truly authentic Mexican fare, but rather typical American-style Mexican (i.e., the taco was hard shell, the beef was ground instead of sliced, etc.), but it was good nonetheless. Their chips n' salsa were actually quite impressive as the chips were warm and the salsa appeared to fresh and homemade. The service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant was clean. I noticed they also had a pretty good selection of Mexican beer. In sum: a good place to grab a quick lunch at a very good price. ¡Órale!
